The Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower, or Diamond Jubilee Tower was built in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. Commissioned by local ‘Queen’s Chinese’ millionaire Cheah Chen Eok, it stands at 60 feet tall, 1 foot for each year of her reign. Due to the bombings around it during World-War II, the tower leans slightly to one side. Nevertheless, it sits both in the heart of George Town, and the locals.
